Veinwave is a treatment that utilizes the principle of thermocoagulation to treat small spider veins, particularly on the face, and other tiny vascular blemishes. The Veinwave system works by delivering high-frequency microwaves through a fine needle, causing the blood within the treated vessels to solidify and the vessels themselves to collapse.

FAQ’s

1. How many sessions are typically required?

Depending on the severity and the area being treated, most patients require 1 to 3 sessions. Some patients may need additional sessions depending on the results and the appearance of new veins.

2. How long is the procedure?

A typical Veinwave treatment lasts between 15 to 30 minutes.

3. How long is the recovery time?

There’s minimal to no downtime after a Veinwave procedure. Patients can usually resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment. Some redness or minor swelling may appear but often resolves within a few hours to a couple of days.

4. How long until results are visible?

Many patients see immediate improvement, but the full results typically become apparent within a few weeks as the treated veins gradually fade.

5. Does insurance cover the procedure?

Veinwave treatments are often considered cosmetic, so they are typically not covered by insurance. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with one’s insurance provider to determine coverage specifics.

6. How painful is it?

Mild. While the procedure involves a very fine needle, the sensation is generally described as a brief pinching or stinging sensation. The discomfort is usually minimal and well-tolerated.

7. What are the risks of VeinWave (Thrermocoagulation)?

Some potential risks include skin burns, temporary redness, hyperpigmentation, skin texture changes, and very rarely, minor scarring.

What to Expect

Before the Procedure

You will undergo a thorough examination of the targeted area, primarily focused on the small thread veins or spider veins intended for treatment. This evaluation helps determine the extent of the condition and provides a blueprint for the Veinwave procedure, ensuring the most effective results.

During the Procedure

Veinwave treatment, often referred to as Thermocoagulation, is a minimally invasive procedure usually done in an outpatient setting. The practitioner will use a specially designed device with a fine, insulated needle. This needle applies radiofrequency energy to the problematic veins, causing them to heat up and collapse instantly. The unique aspect of Veinwave is its ability to target even the tiniest veins that other treatments might miss. As these veins are sealed off, they gradually disappear, leaving the skin clear.

After the Procedure

Once the procedure concludes, you’ll be allowed a brief period to rest and recuperate.

Following Veinwave, there might be slight redness in the treated areas, but this generally subsides within a few hours. Unlike some other treatments, there’s minimal risk of bruising or scarring. Most patients can immediately get back to their daily activities. You’ll be advised to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen to the treated areas for 2 weeks after.
